Role Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sale & Purchase (S&P) Broker to join our team in Japan. You will be responsible for negotiating, finalising and placing secondhand sales contracts for vessels across various asset classes with shipowners to maximize the opportunity for customers, as well as drive revenue through newbuilding contracts.

We are seeking someone with a track record within S&P broking, who is driven and focused and is a strong relationship builder.

What you will be doing
• Actively drive revenue through secondhand sales for vessels and develop new business and identify and introduce new clients.
• Daily contact with leading shipowners and clients, strengthening relationships.
• Set up, negotiate and finalise deals for secondhand sales to achieve optimised results for clients, including presenting the business to potential clients, negotiating the main terms of a contract or sale and seeing it through to its completion.
• Understand the business strategy for the division and seek to identify new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets, products and clients.
• Be aware of the positions and desired strategic directions for each shipyard.
• Market and coordinate the process of newbuilding sales and project opportunities to clients.
• Understanding of key technical shipbuilding concepts, and knowledge of the relevant shipbuilding specifications and commercial forms for key shipyards.
• Manage internal data flow of key market information.
• Coordinate with the key internal broking departments to accurately service customer base.

• Attend meetings and events with clients.
• Conduct post fixture support in a prompt and efficient manner.
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of the S&P arena and market space.
• Perform market analysis and provide insight and trade ideas to client.
• Produce internal and external reporting.
• Maintain a database of sales activity.

What we are looking for

Key Attributes
• Proven track record of Sale & Purchase broking
• Extensive secondhand sales experience
• Newbuilding sales experience and shipbuilding practice and negotiation knowledge
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Personable and engaging, able to build strong relationships
• Strong commercial judgement with excellent negotiation skills
• Driven, self-motivated and client focused
• Strong numeracy skills and excellent presentation skills
• Confident and able to work well under pressure
• Good MS office skills
• Japanese speaker would be an advantage
