WHO IS MARITECH?

This role will sit within our Clarksons company, but primarily focus on supporting Marketing activity and efforts for Maritech. Maritech is a subsidiary of Clarksons and is a software as a service company – designing, developing and selling software that is transforming the global shipping industry. Our premier platform - Sea/ - now consists of eight cloud-based applications which is bringing never-before-seen digitialisation to the way in which shipping professional work. The Sea/ platform and the suite of modules within it is new to market, has lots of energy and an ambitious roadmap of development and adoption in its sights.

DIVISION OVERVIEW:

The marketing team in London works across both Clarksons and Maritech marketing requirements. This role will be predominantly focused on Maritech initiatives which has the benefit of feeling like a fast-paced tech start up, but with the security of being part of a FTSE250 business.

The marketing team is responsible for all communications, branding and marketing around the Sea/ platform and applications within it, both at an overall strategic and brand level, and product marketing level. We take a multi-channel approach to marketing to our existing customers, prospects, and the broader shipping industry to drive the conversation around the need for digitialisation and feeding the sales pipeline. As a digital solution, our marketing needs to be digital. We have a strong focus on email, web, social and aspire to create brilliant content to help grow awareness and develop a conversation driven community. We also work closely with recruitment teams on employer brand initiatives to ensure we continue to attract the best talent to this rapidly growing business.

Our externalisation of the Sea/ platform has only recently started, but plans are ambitious, and the pipeline of activity is already bursting with ideas! This role will be fundamental to realise these plans and ensure they are executed to a high standard.

The team prides itself on its own resourcefulness, creativity, being hands on and sharing skill sets to produce great results. From time to time, we need a specialised help and partner with external agencies accordingly.

 

ROLE SUMMARY:

Management and execution of business and product campaigns.

Jack of many trades, master of all, the candidate will put their full range of marketing skills into practice in this dynamic role with plenty of variety and challenge! Working closely with the Marketing & Communications Director, the person in this role will be responsible for developing campaign collateral, managing the execution and taking ownership of the monitoring and measurement of activity. This will cover a range of channels from email marketing, social media content development and management, video content, website updates and maintenance, internal communication and brand asset management.

The right candidate will have a creative mind to contribute and shape ideas in line with the strategic objectives of the business, but with a methodical nature to execute plans and see them through to final delivery. A flair for writing engaging copy in line with tone of voice guides is essential and will bring to life your natural passion for innovation and technology.

This role is for you if:

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Social media management and content development

  • We follow a ‘help, hub, hero’ strategy – as Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for generating ideas and new content within this framework to ensure a steady stream of activity across our social channels to grow brand awareness and engagement. This will be a mix of product promotion, case study, thought leadership, news sharing content and across a mix of formats.
  • Day-to-day management and monitoring of social media channels and posting content in line with the content calendar.
  • Takes an active approach in recognising online communities and where Sea/ should be engaging with groups.
  • Must demonstrate a keen interest in innovation and technology and have a proven ability to produce ‘snackable assets’ suitable for sharing.
  • Strong experience across running sponsored LinkedIn or AdWords campaigns.

Content development

  • Development of content for our own channels. This could include drafting blogs, product showcases, conducting interviews, photos, graphics, short video content, research, data visualisation, surveys, etc. The candidate will have lots of creative ideas and be keen to explore which work best to grow engagement.
  • Video production is a big part of our strategy in terms of engaging audiences both in the meeting room, and through our online channels. You will have a proven ability to recognise the value video can bring, different formats and where they are best suited, can develop scripts and organise productions, all working closely with our external video production team.
  • Explores advertising opportunities in line with the business strategy.
  • Works closely with our external PR agency on content development, approvals, status updates and actions.
  • Development of creative briefs for external agencies. Whether it’s the production of video, print, advertising or digital work, you should take pride in developing comprehensive and thought-through creative briefs, joining up thinking and learnings from previous activity and implementing that into the next iteration.

Communications

  • Ensuring the Clarksons and Maritech internal audience is fully engaged and aware of the developments of the Sea/ platform. This could be through utilisation of the screens within the London office, running webinars to educate the internal audience on latest developments, executing email campaigns on specific topics, updating the internal resource hub where Clarksons and Maritech staff are able to self-serve.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Support teams during client onboarding to ensure that adoption of the technology is successful. This may involve spinning up additional materials and communications to meet a client’s bespoke requirements.

Brand and asset management

  • Ownership and management of the Sea/ asset library ensuring we have the latest product imagery. Ensuring imagery is approved for marketing purposes.
  • Work closely with the product teams to understand new features and functionality. This knowledge is then updated across web pages and working closely with the sales team to update sales presentation materials.
  • Production and updating of sales materials. This will involve working closely with the product managers to understand the functionalities and benefits, but also how the sales team pitch and position in order that you can produce relevant sales materials.

Website

  • Maintains and updates our web assets.
  • Monitors performance of web assets and makes proactive suggestions for improvements based on analytical data and SEO requirements.

ECRM

  • Expert in email communications.
  • Understanding of MailChimp or similar platform is essential.
  • Management of data lists.

General

  • To fulfil any additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
