Role Summary
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will support the Financial Accountant and Revenue accountant with month end procedures and reconciliations, and analysis of financial information in accordance with Company procedures, H&S Systems and the CPS Management System.


We are seeking someone with management accountant experience, along with experience of accruals, prepayments and data analysis.

What you will be doing
• Support and assist Financial Accountant with monthly analysis of financial information.
• Reconcile and update control accounts within the financial system and liaise with agents and third parties to investigate variances.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and investigate differences with other CPS departments and parent company.
• Prepare management accounts and assist with month end tasks such as accruals & prepayments.
• Perform variance analysis on monthly P&L.
• Prepare VAT returns for review by Financial Accountant.
• Complete period close- off on Sage 200 on a monthly basis.
• Raise shortsea voyage invoices and payments.
• Provide cover with checking and sending out Disbursement accounts to customers.
• Provide cover and assistance to Specialised Products department with payment review and authorisation.
• Provide assistance with ad hoc tasks as required by Financial Accountant/Revenue Accountant.

What we are looking for

Skills & Experience
• Management Accountant experience required

• Experience with accruals, prepayments and data analysis are essential

• AAT qualified/equivalent

• Numerate and knowledgeable on accounting principles (i.e. double entry bookkeeping/prepayments/accruals)
• Experienced in the reporting of management accounts
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, able to liaise with people at all levels
• High attention to detail and accuracy skills
• Good problem-solving skills, and able to use initiative
• Self-motivated and able to multi-task and prioritise to meet deadlines
• Strong IT skills, with advanced excel skills
