Role Summary

The Market Intelligence & Commercial Analyst has a key role within the Brazilian Offshore team. You will support the brokers to identify and read market trends, client movements, strategies, tender results, produce reports and support not only the local brokers team but also where required, the global Offshore team. Teamwork is our specialty, and it is crucial to enjoy working in a very collaborative environment.

 

What you’ll be doing
• Market intelligence and content production focused in SOAM, feeding into the global Offshore team.
• Work with the global team of analysts to support data development, acquiring data from primary and secondary data sources and maintaining existing databases and updating charts (i.e. vessel movements, contracts, updates etc).
• Work closely with Clarksons’ Offshore teams worldwide, with the main focus being the Brazilian Office and local Brazilian market, but not limited to. As part of the Global team, if needed, there will be activities/support within other regions.
• Utilise data analytics tools to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
• Support the team with work on ongoing projects, deals and initiatives.
• Produce and develop regular market reports with commentary for core clients, collating information from key teams within the group.
• Compile tender results (Petrobras and all other Charterers), treating the information to prepare internal presentation and share with clients and team.
• Maintain key databases and presentation slide packs that underpin the work of the team.
• Produce weekly update covering latest news and projects on the Offshore Market, to be shared with the team, other senior brokers within the group and clients.
• Interact with a wide range of internal and external clients.
• Attend industry webinars and conferences (where possible) to develop network and improve broader understanding on a range of topics.
• Interact with brokers to gain additional market insights and develop relationships.
• Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

• Must have excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical and presentation capabilities (strength in excel/powerpoint essential).
• Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage a heavy workload.
• Must be a team player and able to collaborate and work well as part of a results-oriented, office-based workplace.
• Ability to structure a narrative around topics identified as important for client base, with supporting analysis, evidence and considerations.
• An effective communicator, able to build and maintain internal network and relationships across the various teams within the Clarksons group and leverage extensive resources available to improve value add to clients.
• Interest in broader macro-economic/geopolitical environment and how this impacts offshore market and client business.
• Comfortable communicating with senior colleagues.
• Ability to communicate ideas and results of analysis clearly.
• Ability to understand and present complex analysis and ideas in a succinct and clear manner using excel/powerpoint or similar tools.
• Comfortable working as part of the Research team as an Analyst and supporting brokers, with medium term ambition to develop and grow the role (internally and externally) but initially not as a broker.
• Experience within the offshore oil & gas industry, preferably within the Brazilian market is advantageous (preferably a minimum of 2 years)
