Division Overview
Our industry leading team focuses exclusively on the highly specialised demands of the seaborne transportation of petrochemical gases and costal LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). Our teams bring specialist knowledge and extensive experience to oil majors, petrochemical producers and traders alike. Our main business areas include: sport chartering for individual charters; terms charters for both Contracts of Affreightment (COAs) and short or long-time charters; and the sale and purchase of both secondhand
vessels and the contracting of newbuildings.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Operator to join our team in the London office. This position would be ideal for a school leaver with an interest in the shipping industry who is looking to start and build a career in this area.
 

What you will be doing
You will be working alongside our experienced members of the team, and supporting them by carrying out general operational duties as outlined below, but not limited to:


• Maintain and update data.
• Help to manage internal data flow of key information.
• Update clients with key information.
• Liaise with clients, brokers, counterparties, owners and charterers throughout the voyage.
• CPA, including demurrage / invoicing duties.
• Check recaps / charter parties / time charter parties.
• Input relevant data on voyage sheets, constantly updating throughout voyages.
• Ensure any declarations are noted and diarised.
• Communicate declarations with clients prior to expiration.

• Track vessel itineraries, ensuring vessels meeting contractual laycan.

• Chase for and check load / proceeding orders.

• Follow up and log load port documentation.

• Chase and check discharge / proceeding orders.

• Ensure LOI’s are issued timely (this may involve drafting same).

• Check freight / hire invoices, ensuring same issued timely (this may involve drafting same).

• Issue notice on completion of voyage to owners.

• Advise clients if any claims time bar clause applicable per charter party.

• Liaise with accounts with regard to issuance of commission invoice.

• Close voyage data sheet.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the relevant market space.
• Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

• Knowledge and some previous experience within shipping would be beneficial (but not mandatory)
