Role Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Architect to join our Technology team in London. The person in this role will work as part of the Global Platform Team to ensure that the structure and delivery of services, systems and solutions through our Network, Systems and Infrastructure Teams are aligned and within the Global Architectural standards and vision. The person within this role will hold architectural responsibility for the following technical services for the business globally:


• Active Directory
• VMWare ESXi, Horizon & VCentre
• Networking, LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi services
• Firewall and switch infrastructure
• Windows Server
• Communication services, Telephony etc
• Windows client engineering
• Intune and device management
• HPe server and storage hardware
• Exchange Services and infrastructure
• Windows clustering
• M365 cloud services
• Backup services
• Service automation
• Monitoring and alerting
• A variety of line of business applications


This role calls for skills in both technical leadership, and people / negotiation skills – guiding the team to deliver solutions which deliver value to the business, scale and are operationally sound.

What you will be doing
• Ensuring the future direction, design, development and maintenance of Global platforms, systems and services is in line with set and defined Global Architectural standard and scaled to deliver all business and technology operational targets.
• Focusing on Security posture, regulatory needs, and colleague experience, ensure that all current and future solutions and architecture are delivered.
• Providing and delivering a consultative approach across all future project and service deliveries, recommending solutions and amendments to proposed solutions
• Awareness of current and future technologies, with a detailed awareness of current and emerging technologies and how these could be used in Clarksons to solve issues, increase efficiencies, and offer solutions to the Clarksons business units.
• Defining and owning the requirements and development of a future roadmap for all technology services considering evolving needs, lifecycle, and security posture.
• Proposal of high- and low-level designs and implementation documentations to support delivery and system integrations.
• Project delivery – ensuring that as solutions are moving through ideation, to scoping and creation, that Architectural designs and principles are adhered to.
• Proactively finding design improvements and opportunities with our current services which can be addressed before they become user impacting.
• Working closely with our information security team to ensure new services do not create additional risk and addressing any identified risks.


What we are looking for

Experience & Knowledge
• Experienced systems architect with significant experience across both on premise, cloud, and hybrid solutions.
• Looking at software design to ensure that software engineering design and capability aligns with need and colleague requirements.
• Strong knowledge of different methods of project delivery techniques, Agile, Devops, Prince / waterfall or Kanban styled smaller deliveries,
• Significant Engineering and Architectural experience working at an Enterprise level globally.
• A colleague who will always look to develop their teams and those around them.

• Customer oriented, with a passion for delivering excellent service and for continuous improvement of services.
• Excellent communication skills, able to communicate well over the telephone, chat, or face to face.

• Working with suppliers to specify the right solutions for our requirements and manage the delivery of those.
• Flexible and willing to work outside of the core hours if necessary – the global platforms team is responsible for a large portfolio of business-critical services and provides an escalation point 24x7.
• Experience in implementing APIs and services-based architecture including M2B integration.
• Able to adapt to and handle changing situations, one day may be designing integration for a LOB application into our existing estate, the next may be a new acquisition or service integration.
• Able to learn quickly and work within a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge/experience of the following:

• TOGAF or equivalent qualification
• Cloud (specifically Azure) virtual infrastructure, migration, architectural and design knowledge
• VMWare ESXi & VCentre
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation
• Storage technologies
• Backup tools (ideally Commvault, but training can be provided)
• Azure AD (including, but not limited to conditional access, SSO, application registration, provisioning), M365 & Intune
• Windows Server / client
• Architectural standards,
• ISO 90001 and GDPR technology requirements
• Windows certificate services
• Active Directory (and associated technologies), Exchange Server, clustering, and file servers
• HPe hardware
• Network routing / 802.1x / firewalling
• Cisco call manager
