Role Summary

The Commercial Analyst has a key role within the Newbuilding team.

 

What you’ll be doing
• Support the team with work on ongoing projects, deals and initiatives.
• Establish and maintain internal network across the group with key stakeholders.
• Work closely with Clarksons’ newbuilding, structured asset finance, and research teams, as well as fully integrating themselves fully with our technical desk analyst and the other commercial and market analysts within the wider global Clarksons group.
• Produce and develop regular market reports with commentary for core clients, collating information from key teams within the group.
• Develop and maintain data modelling and perform statistical analysis to meet current and anticipated future requirements.
• Provide presentation support to team members, preparing presentations that are delivered to key clients.
• Maintain key databases and presentation slide packs that underpin the work of the team.
• Produce weekly update covering latest news, projects and economics on the green transition within shipping, to be shared with the team and other senior brokers within the group.
• Possibility to interact and present to with a wide range of external clients.
• Attend industry webinars and conferences (where possible) to develop network and improve broader understanding on a range of topics.
• Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Other requirements
• Strong analytical and presentation capabilities (advanced abilities in excel/powerpoint essential).
• Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage a heavy workload and multitask.
• Ability to structure a narrative around topics identified as important for client base, with supporting analysis, evidence and considerations.
• An effective communicator, able to build and maintain internal network and relationships across the various teams within the Clarksons group and leverage extensive resources available to improve value add to clients.
• Comfortable communicating with senior colleagues up to CEO level.
• Ability to communicate ideas and results of analysis clearly.
• Ability to understand and present complex analysis and ideas in a succinct and clear manner using excel/powerpoint or similar tools.
• Interest in broader macro-economic/geopolitical environment and how this impacts shipping sectors and our core client’s business.
• Comfortable initially working as junior member of the team and supporting senior brokers, with medium term ambition to develop and grow the role (internally and externally).
• Technical/Chemical Engineering degree or exposure will be advantageous.
• Experience or knowledge in alternative fuels is beneficial.
