Role Summary

As Trainee Broker, you will support our experienced Brokers to help strengthen relationships with existing clients for sales and help develop new business. You should have strong interpersonal skills, be results-orientated as well as driven with a self-motivated approach, and be able to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic broking environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the day-to-day activities of the Brokers on the desk.
  • Maintain databases and prepare market information and reports for clients.
  • Help to manage internal data flow of key market information.
  • Undertake administrative tasks such as dealing with emails, assisting with contracts and correspondence.
  • Help to field queries and establish and maintain effective relationships internally and externally.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation and assist with producing internal and external reporting.
  • Attend meetings and events where required.
  • Actively continue to develop knowledge of the market.
  • Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Other requirements

  • An interest in shipping/shipbroking
  • Previous experience or exposure within shipbroking desirable
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Personable and engaging, able to build strong relationships
  • Self-motivated and able to work to deadlines
  • Confident and able to work well under pressure, with ability to adapt
  • Team player with a flexible approach
  • Good numeracy skills and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
  • Good MS office skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Fluent Mandarin speaker
