Role Summary
We have an opportunity for a Claims Assistant to work within the post-fixture team of our Tanker Division. The person in this role will need to be familiar with and manage demurrage and expense claims from a variety of owners within the tanker market. Ideally, we are looking for someone with claims experience, who is keen to remain within the field of shipping claims and further develop their skills and knowledge base.
What you’ll be doing
- Review demurrage / expense claims and submit them to customers on behalf of shipowners (essential to ensure that correct supporting documentation has been presented) prior to passing to Charterers.
- Be proactive with close ‘follow up’ to ensure earliest resolution and settlement of claims.
- Offer advice and guidance to owners and charterers in order to avoid further disputes or demurrage claims.
- Whenever possible, pre-empt possible areas of dispute / offer advice and guidance to assist in the resolution of on-going disputes.
- Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Other requirements
- Knowledge of shipping practices and claims experience
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is essential
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A professional telephone manner
- Good problem solver and able to use initiative
- Willing to work out of office hours if required on occasion
- Good knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel would be beneficial
- Fluency in English as well as Greek
