We have a fantastic opportunity for a Placement Student / Trainee Operator to join our team in the Aberdeen office. This position would be ideal for someone with an interest in the shipping and energy industries who is looking to start and build a career in this area.

 

This is an undergraduate placement opportunity, which starts summer 2025. 

 

What you’ll be doing

You will be working alongside our experienced members of the team, and supporting them by carrying out general operational duties as outlined below, but not limited to:


• Maintain and update data.
• Help to manage internal data flow of key information.

• Update clients with key information.
• Liaise with clients, brokers, counterparties, owners and charterers throughout the charter.
• Check charter parties and other documentation to ensure accuracy.

• Input relevant data on tracking software, constantly updating.
• Track vessel itineraries, ensuring vessels meet contractual requirements.
• Prepare Charter cost Breakdowns. Check hire invoices, ensuring same issued timely (this may involve drafting same).

• Liaise with accounts with regard to issuance of commission invoice.
• Assist with maintaining and developing our existing selection of internal and external market- related reports and presentations.
• Maintenance of document templates.

• Participate in internal meetings with brokers.
• Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the relevant market space.
• Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
